Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility is a broad concept that can take many forms depending on the company and industry. Through CSR programs, philanthropy, and volunteer efforts, businesses can benefit society. To engage in CSR means that, in the ordinary course of business, a company is operating in ways that enhance society and the environment.
CSR activities can help forge a stronger bond between employees and corporations, boost morale, and help both employees and employers feel more connected with the world around them. For a company to be socially responsible, it first needs to be accountable to itself and its shareholders. Often, companies that adopt CSR programs have grown their business to the point where they can give back to society. The more visible and successful a corporation is, the more responsibility it has to set standards of ethical behavior for its peers, competition, and industry. CSR also enables each of us to reach out to the less privileged simultaneously showing them a ray of hope.
At Think Tank, CSR is a self regulated activity. By practicing Corporate Social Responsibility, also called Corporate Citizenship, we are conscious of the kind of impact we have, on all aspects of society, including economic, social and enviromental.

An Overwhelming Experience of a Lifetime
Reflections by Geetanjali
“Nestled away in the hub and heart of the Indian capital New Delhi, are 91 frugal slum settlements housing over 700,000 slum dwellers that have been provided care and facilities by ASHA, a non -government organization.
On my visit here and after a welcome that equates meeting a best friend, it was suggested that with my experience of 25 years in Transformation -Strategy and People development, I could do a few workshops for them.
I picked young adults as they are beacons of our future, and women – for enlightening them I believe lends enlightenment to the entire family. After the orientation sessions and a visit to the homes of some of the residents, the session workshops commenced.
Discussions on saying “YES” to Education and saying “NO” to Domestic Violence, Child Marriage, and Dowry emerged. “It is a new morning whenever one awakes from their slumber” was imbibed in a way that banners of this key message were peppered around the slum dwellings. Initiatives were taken by young adults to tutor their mothers, and women were inspired to take up their study of interest, generating a wave of transformation. The campaign, “thumb impression to a pen signature” by young adults supporting their mothers to learn how to sign or use the online booking forms, made me witness sparkling eyes of caring delight. They felt driven to engage in role play activities including exciting ramp walk sessions with music and a huge audience (the word had spread!!) to deliver the message of breaking Gender stereotypes!
One to one conversation on the challenges these young adults and women experience given their underprivileged back grounds , which sets them back in a world of unlimited possibilities facilitated opening their minds to the potential opportunities they could pursue.
The unique and refreshing ASHA experience made eight days go by in a flash and it was soon time to head home! When I checked in my luggage at the airport ,the one thing precious I held were the compelling memories of the week! I smiled and thanked God for the experience of a lifetime.
